Blogmas, 2025 – My Reading Goals for 2026

Good morning, Cyberspace! Today is the last day of Week One of Blogmas! It’s been a week filled with my top reads of 2025, my worst reads of 2025, and the books I’m kicking off my TBR in 2026! Today, we’re doing a short and sweet post all about my reading goals for 2026!

BLOGMAS, 2025 – MY READING GOALS FOR 2026

01 – COMPLETE MY STORYGRAPH READING CHALLENGE

Every year, I challenge myself with a yearly goal of books I’d like to read. Usually, this corresponds with the ending numbers of the new year, but in 2025, I challenged myself to read 30 books instead of 25–and I am so close to finishing it!

Yes, a couple of those books were Children’s titles, but I am STILL COUNTING THEM, MWAHAHAHAHAHA! …anyway.

I’m currently at 28 books read, but I’m working on a 29th and have a 30th in the wings. I definitely feel extremely excited about the prospect of finishing 30 books in the span of a year. Other readers read more, I know, but this feels like a huge win! Especially when you take into consideration the fact that this is excluding all of the storytime books I read throughout the year… (aside from, ya know, the two kids’ books I tracked.)

In 2026, I’d like to continue the trend of reading voraciously. I’m unsure if I’ll up my goal to 35 or keep it where it is, but I do know that whatever my goal is, I want it to be manageable for my lifestyle. I personally don’t think reading 2-3 books in a single month is asking too much of myself, but there are some life-y things happening in the coming months that I want to be cognizant of before fully committing to anything higher than 30!

02. PARTICIPATE IN A STORYGRAPH CHALLENGE

I’ve never completed a Storygraph challenge before, but there are so many on there that look like fun! I’ve seen a couple that even correspond with tackling your TBR, which leads nicely into my next goal…

I’m still debating which challenge I want to join, but I’m researching the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge to see if that’s something I’d like to start doing… (there are SOOOO many books mentioned in Gilmore Girls. Ugh.) Once I’ve narrowed down which challenge(s) I want to try, I’ll add it to my list and potentially talk about my progress here on the blog!

03. TACKLE AT LEAST 15 BOOKS ON MY TBR

I know I said I wanted to read 30 books this year, and naturally you would think that I would read 30 books off my TBR… but like any self respecting book dragon, I don’t always read the books on my TBR. Sometimes I find something at the library. Sometimes I find something on Kindle Unlimited when I’m bored. There’s really no rhyme or reason to my madness at this point.

BUT. At least 15 of the books I read this year I want to be on my TBR shelf. At least then I can feel like I’ve actually accomplished something reading-wise by next December…

04. BE UNAFRAID OF THE DNF

This is something that I have struggled with for… well, kind of forever. If I am reading a book and I am not enjoying that book, I force myself to either continue reading it, or not read at all. And I’m relatively certain this is where 99% of my reading dry spells come from.

So! In 2026, I want to be unafraid of the DNF! If I’m not enjoying a book, I will DNF it and find something else to fill my time with. It really is as easy as that.

TALK TO ME, PEASANTS!

Like I said–short and sweet! I don’t have many reading goals for 2026, since the main goal is to simply read. Not just that, but to enjoy what I’m reading. After all, that’s what reading is all about, right? Getting swept away into a distant land and loving every second of it?

What are some of your reading goals for 2026? Do you set a number goal or use something else for your yearly challenge?

Until next time…

For me, number goals tend to go two ways: I either 1) fail spectacularly. 2) I don’t make a goal. Part way through a goal appears spontaneously, and now I cannot swerve from it.

Okay but these are also how I go about goals, I feel. Usually I make them and fail spectacularly. XD

I’ve decided numbers goals aren’t for me – they either mean nothing (as in my brain shrugs and says “idk what that is”), or they push me into a reading hiatus out of stress xD Doing a themed Storygraph challenge sounds cool!

Currently my reading sort of comes in a themed learning list I make? So I have a list on the Inklings, as an example, and that covers books, podcasts, articles, etc. I haven’t finished the list (there’s so much xD) but I’ve taken down a good chunk, so I’m feeling like moving on to my next list, which is the theme of Worship. (This learning list idea came from a blogger “Sam @ Knowledge Lust”. It’s working for me so far xD)

Okay but the stress-induced reading hiatus… THIS HAPPENS TO ME SO MUCHHH. Maybe I shouldn’t make number goals… Lol!

Oh my goodness! That sounds like such an awesome way to go about learning??? I should read that article… (also. are you still writing articles???)
